The number of companies offering tours to China has mushroomed in recent years, partly because of the burgeoning number of Chinese who have left their homeland to study and work abroad, and partly because of China's ever-widening open-door policies. There is a huge expanding curiosity in the West about all things Chinese. With Beijing getting the 2008 Summer Olympics, the interest is certain to soar ever higher. Fueling this, too, will be China's entry to the World Trade Organization, expected to happen later this year. With so many tours and tour companies to choose from, it may be confusing to know which is best for you. Here are some reasons why we think you should choose us:

  • Trust. We are a company you can trust. We are registered, licensed and bonded in the Province of British Columbia, giving anyone who joins one of our tours fundamental protection. We are also a member of the Better Business Bureau, with a proven record of good business practices.

We have been in the tour business in North America since 1995, but before that our tour director was leading tours throughout China for groups from Europe from the late 1980s on. We are specialists in China travel, and for the time being, do nothing else.

  • Knowledge. We are a company with extensive knowledge of China. Company founder Derek Sidenius, a Canadian journalist, spent almost a decade living and working in Asia, mostly in China, as a teacher and journalist. He taught English writing to fourth-year and graduate-level students at several universities in the Beijing area over a two-year period. He spent a year at Xinhua News Agency, China's official news service and the largest in the world, a year at China Daily newspaper, the country's official English-language daily, and a year at China Today, the pre-eminent monthly publication with a worldwide subscription. In addition, he worked as advisor and editor on a number of other publications, including China Travel and China Pictorial, and edited a major textbook on the geography of China. Rounding out his Asian experience were year-long stints at the daily Japan Times in Tokyo and daily Hong Kong Standard in Hong Kong. He has also traveled extensively in other areas of the world, and has worked in New Zealand, Australia, Colombia and Chile. Such experience, combined with Tour Director Naiwei Bai's native understanding of the culture and traditions, provide our customers with a unique knowledge base, blending Eastern and Western perspectives in a way few other companies can.
 
  • Service. We are a service-oriented company. Every tour member receives our personal attention from the moment they register for a tour until the time they get back home - and often well beyond. We are always open for queries or questions and will provide answers and information as needed. Our service also extends to families of tour members, and we will act as intermediary for them to pass on messages or provide progress reports for those on tour. Our service aims are two-fold: look after comforts, and remove worries.
 
  • Convenience. We make it convenient for our customers. We will attend to the little things so you can deal with the big things in your life. For example, we will arrange for you to be on a group visa, taking that essential task completely off your hands. We will accept methods of payment that are most convenient for you. We will deal with the tipping in China, too, as a matter of convenience for our tour members.
